Thom Browne and Baccarat Reveal Archive-Inspired Crystal Glass Collection
Thom Browne has joined Baccarat for a collection of artisanal coupes, wine glasses, tumblers and whiskey carafes, inspired by those from the Lorraine, France-based crystal purveyor’s archives.
For the collaboration, Browne, who is a longtime admirer and collector of Baccarat, “re-edited” the brand’s signature pieces to reflect his own design codes. In doing so, each design in the joint collection has been marked with the designer’s distinctive four-bar motif in a seamless fashion.
Among the standout pieces, the collection features the “Yacht Glass,” which was originally crafted in 1952 by Georges Chevalier for the International Exhibition of Decorative Arts in Paris. The piece was known for its square base, and it was a favorite among royals, include the Prince of Whales, who kept it on the table of his yacht.
“We didn’t go into [this collaboration] saying we want to get into the crystal business,” Browne told WWD. “We want to make a beautiful collection that can live on and is timelessly designed. We want this to live forever and be in our stores forever.”
The Thom Browne and Baccarat collection will be exclusively available to shop on Thom Browne’s webstore and at select Thom Browne retail stores. Each glass comes in a set of two. Take a closer look at the range in the gallery above.
