Tesco to shut shop doors in weeks due to 'difficult decision' after previous closures – is your local disappearing? | The Sun
A MAJOR supermarket is closing the doors of another one of its stores in a few weeks and students will not be pleased.
The Mount Plesant Tesco Metro in Liverpool will be permanently closing on November 15.
It's a tough blow for students as the shop is located next to Liverpool John Moores University on "Mount Pleasant" campus.
Students will now have to trek to Bold Street Skelhorne in Clayton, Brownlow Hill to do their shopping, which is the closest branch.
The supermarket giant announced the closure of the store with a sign in the shop window.
It reads: "This store will permanently close on Friday 10th November at 6pm.

Tesco has confirmed the Express store will close next month and put the decision down to low customer demand, but noted it was a difficult decision.
The supermarket giant has assured customers it will continue serving the local community through 13 other Tesco Express stores which are within walking distance of Mount Pleasant.
All staff currently working at the stores will have the option to be redeployed to other stores in the area.

Major card chain suddenly closes store as 38 branches face being axed
Last month Tesco announced it was closing two other branches after it decided to scrap its new brand Jack's.
The decision to shut down the sites was also made due to a lack of customer demand.
Tesco closed its Jack's supermarkets last year, converting six of the 13 branches into new Tesco superstores, while the others permanently shut.
The Jack’s stores were originally launched in cities like Barnsley, Liverpool and Hull with a bid to take on rival bargain retailers Lidl and Aldi.
Four years later Tesco has decided to close all its Jack’s stores with around 130 jobs affected by the decision.
Tesco still has around 2,800 locations open and shoppers can find their nearest one using the store locator tool on its website.
Many retailers have been struggling since the pandemic after shoppers started cutting their spending due to soaring inflation.
More shoppers than ever are ordering online and energy costs have risen which has left some retailers grappling with budgets.
It has led to a number of high street retailers closing stores as they try to cut back on costs.
Some have gone bust completely too, including Paperchase, Cath Kidston, M&Co and Wilko.
Boots revealed it would be closing 3000 stores over the next year as part of plans to evolve its brand.
B&M has closed nine of its stores since February this year.
Wilko closed all of its stores this year but you can order items online after it was snapped up by The Range in a £5million deal.
