A woman has gone viral after revealing her ‘one week no booze method’ that ensures she is alcohol-free for at least three months out of the year. 

Bridget Stangland, 31, from Nashville, Tennessee, opened up about the healthy habit on TikTok, where she is known as @sipsandsnacks, saying it’s easy to achieve ‘major results’ with little effort. 

The content creator shared that temporarily giving up alcohol once a month has improved her sleep, cured her brain fog, and given her skin a glow.

‘The one week no booze method is taking one week off of alcohol each month, and at the end of the year it results in three months of no drinking,’ she explained at the start of her video.

‘For those who want to go a little bit bigger, you can do two weeks each month, and at the end of the year, it results in six months of no drinking. That’s half the year.’

Stangland started embracing week-long stretches of sobriety because she realized that as she got older, there were so many occasions where she was unnecessarily drinking alcohol.  

‘I realized it doesn’t serve me to have it all the time. And I like taking breaks. I feel amazing when I take breaks. I don’t have brain fog. I sleep well. My skin looks better,’ she said. 

‘I thought, “Why not create a small change that results in this major impact?” So I incorporated something that felt easy to me, which was one week, and went from there. 

‘Sometimes I go longer each month; sometimes I just do the one week. It all really depends on how I’m feeling and things that are happening in my life.’

Stangland explained that she wanted to share her one week no booze method because she never heard of anyone doing something like this when she was in her twenties. 

‘It was always very black and white,’ she recalled. ‘It was either drinking or not drinking at all.

‘I wanted to share something…where you can create healthy habits that don’t need to be so drastic. You get to see how it makes you feel and then chase the good feelings.’

Fans of the method have been sharing their results with Stangland, saying they have lost weight, reduced their anxiety, and saved money 

Stangland noted that the method is meant for someone who simply wants to incorporate a new healthy habit into their lifestyle — not a person who is dealing with substance abuse issues. 

‘This advice is not intended for those overly dependent on alcohol, or addicted in any way. I am not a medical professional, just a 30-something-year-old who found this healthy habit to work and wanted to share it with others,’ she told DailyMail.com.

However, Stangland has had fans who quit drinking for a week and were inspired to go even longer without booze.  

‘I’ve had followers who have started with one week and they are now nine months alcohol-free. I’ve had people go a hundred days,’ she explained in her video. 

Others reported that they had lost weight and saved hundreds of dollars by temporarily giving up drinking. 

Stangland posted some of her fans’ comments in another clip to show the incredible results people have seen since adopting the method. 

‘I tried one week no alcohol and now I’m on 9 months no alcohol,’ one person responded. 

‘I’ve had no alcohol for two weeks and feel amazing!’ someone else gushed. ‘Going two more weeks since I’m going to a fitness retreat in AZ. 

‘[I] have saved at least $300 by not drinking and lost 8 pounds,’ another added. 

With holiday parties and dinners in full swing this month, Stangland recently shared her tips for not drinking in social situations

Stangland said she likes to order bitters and soda when she is not drinking alcohol because it looks like a cocktail. She also focuses on what she is gaining by not imbibing

‘Social situations are extremely challenging,’ she said in the clip. ‘I think it’s what a lot of people get nervous and scared about when doing the one week no booze method.’

She admitted that she doesn’t like calling attention to the fact that she’s not drinking because she doesn’t want people to ask why she is abstaining.  

‘A lot of my friends now know about this method because I’ve shared it with them, so they now just realize, “Oh, she’s doing her one week off,”‘ she explained. 

‘But in the beginning, when I wasn’t sharing it with people, I would get a bitters and soda. I was actually at a birthday party last week, and I kept ordering bitters and soda, and it looks like a cocktail.’

Stangland also recommended focusing on what you are going to gain by not having a few cocktails or glasses of wine to keep yourself from giving in to temptation. 

‘I am always like, “Oh my gosh, I get to go to this social event, be super present, and then I get to go home and go to bed and sleep amazing since I won’t have any alcohol in my system.”‘

Her final piece of advice was to ‘do what you gotta do’ — even if it means telling ‘a little white lie.’

Stangland said there is no harm in claiming you are on antibiotics or not feeling well if you are being pressured to drink at a social event.
