Cher’s heartbreaking health battle and mum’s reply after she broke down crying

Superstar Cher is renowned for her strong vocals and classic hits, but she has struggled with a health battle her entire life.

Cher: In Conversation took place at London's Odeon Leicester Square with the 77-year-old fielding questions from Ken Bruce and Harriet Scott. She sat down for an intimate chat with a small audience to discuss her incredible life and career. The superstar revealed a huge struggle with Dyslexia that was so bad that it left her in tears as a child.

“I’m dyslexic so I did poorly in school," Cher said at the event. "One time I came home – I can’t even see numbers, one time I came home with this terrible report card in math and I was crying,” she revealed. “I said mom mom what am I gunna do I can’t do math and she said sweetheart, ‘when you’re older you’ll have someone to do it for you.’”

Cher, 77, wasn’t diagnosed with dyslexia until adulthood, when she says she finally "understood" why she had "so much trouble in school." The star said: "It all fit together."

In her autobiography, The First Time, Cher penned: "I couldn’t read quickly enough to get all my homework done. Almost everything I learned, I had to learn by listening. My report cards always said that I was not living up to my potential."

The star recently made headlines after acknowledging her shocking snub from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The music legend appeared on an episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show where she vented about her exclusion from the prestigious museum in Cleveland, Ohio.

"You know what, I wouldn't be in it now if they gave me a million dollars. I'm never going to change my mind. "They can just go you-know-what themselves," she added.

Clarkson was shocked to hear of Cher's exclusion. "Wait, are you serious," the 41-year-old singer asked Cher, as members of the studio audience gasped. "That is brand new information for me. I'm not… kidding you," said Cher. "I was about to say something else. I was about to say s—ting you!"

Cher made history this month as the first female artist to have a No. 1 song for the past seven decades straight, with her holiday single, "DJ Play a Christmas Song," topping Billboard's Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart.
