Dynamo uses King Charles as ‘guinea pig’ for tricks because he gave him a leg-up

Magician Dynamo says he uses King Charles as a ‘guinea pig’ for new magic tricks.

The 40-year-old, real name Steven Frayne, was given a loan by the Prince’s Trust – set up by the now King in 1976 – to buy a laptop and video camera in 2006.

He went on to find fame with TV show Dynamo: Magician Impossible, which ran from 2011 to 2014, and toured the world with his Seeing Is Believing arena tour – earning a fortune of around £3m.

The trickster – who performed at the King’s coronation – said: “Whenever I see him (King Charles) I’ll always try out my latest idea.

“He’s a great guinea pig for my new magic.”

The magic man also said that his next show – being buried alive under five tonnes of soil – would be his last as Dynamo.

Asked if it was ‘Dynamo’s final act’, he replied “I think it has to be.

“There’s positive things that have come from Dynamo. But the pressures of being Dynamo are too much and I feel like I need to move on.”

Dynamo Is Dead aired on Sky Max and Now this week.
