GMB Ben Shephard still clinging on as famous pals pile on the well-wishes

Good Morning Britain host Ben Shephard joked he is "still clinging on" to being 49 as he shared a touching tribute to his family on his birthday.

The ITV favourite celebrated his birthday this week but his sons couldn't help winding him up on his special day. The daytime TV hunk shared a series of photos on Instagram thanking his family for spoiling him.

One shot showed a number of cards with the ages 50 and 60 on them. But Ben was quick to tell his pals and followers that he hadn't hit the big 5-0 just yet.

In the caption, he said: "Feeling very spoiled having had a lovely birthday with the family and from all your messages! Thank you!

"No idea where the time has gone or is going, but as you can see from the cards the family certainly aren't letting me age quietly! The fact that Annie nicked Clint Eastwood's poncho made it even better."

He went on: "By the way don't be confused by my cards โ€“ I'm not 50 or 60, that's my boys winding me up! I'm still clinging onto my 49th year!"

Alongside the gorgeous snap of him with his wife Annie, he added the hashtag "the good the bad and the old bu**er". His famous friends were among the first to send their well wishes.

Daytime queen Lorraine Kelly wrote: "Happy 21st you scrumptious, glorious, cute as a button angel child." BBC rival Gethin Jones laughed: "60 [laughing emoji]."

Gaby Roslin said: "Happy birthday to you wonderful good kind Ben, one of the loveliest people on the planet!" Anton Ferdinand said: Happy birthday Ben."

GMB's Katy Rickitt said: "Happy birthday to one of the loveliest humans I know." Fellow GMB star Alex Beresford said: "Happy birthday mate. 50? No way! Looking good lad."

Susanna Reid was among the well-wishers too, writing: "Happy birthday! How many ages are you today?"

Andi Peters commented: "Happy birthday Benny boy!" And Ronan Keating added: "Happy birthday matey."
