Stone Roses original band member dies aged 61 as Ian Brown leads tributes

The Stone Roses original bassist Pete Garner has died at the age of 61.
The musician first met his bandmate Ian Brown at school when they were teenagers. The duo later recruited guitarist John Squire when the band officially formed in 1983.
It is understood he first stood in on bass in the pair's first group The Patrol just three years later. Following the news of his passing, Pete took to the social media platform X – formerly known as Twitter – to share his heartache online.
He wrote: "Very sad. We were young punk rockers when we met in '77. The nite before Pete's maths and geography O levels we went to see the Clash.
"Always made me chuckle he did that and of course he made the right decision! Few loved music as much as Pete he been bathing in music since [Sex Pistols' album] Anarchy in the UK came out, that I can vouch for.
"And Pete was off the scale nice, an old skool nice that ya just don't get no more! He got that from his lovely Mum! GOD Bless Pete RIP," which he signed off with a kiss.
The hugely-talented musician featured on the band's debut AA-side single So Young as well as Tell Me two years after they got together. He also played on the hit son Sally Cinnamon, which was released back in 1987.
Just one month after the release of their second single, the musician left the band in the summer of 1987. At the time, Louder Than War claims that Garner left the band because he "believed he wasn't good enough for them" and went on to work at music store HMV.
The musician kindly taught his replacement Rob Hampson the bass parts before he left the group but he was swiftly replaced by before long-term bassist Gary 'Mani' Mounfield at the end of 1987.
It comes after Liam Gallagher teased that his upcoming joint album with John Squire will be the best record sing The Beatles' 'Revolver' last month. The former Oasis singer had brought Quire out during his Knebworth shows last year to play on Champagne Supernova.
During an interview with Matt Wilkinson on Apple Music 1, Gallagher confirmed the pair are "defintely" going to work together. When he was asked for an update on their highly-anticipated new music, Gallagher said: "Yeah, Serious man.
"But we've got things to do first, and he's got things to clear up and that. But yeah, I'm definitely going to do summat at some point."
