Strictlys Shirley Ballas makes public dig at co-star – but says it wasnt me

Strictly Come Dancing's head judge Shirley Ballas couldn't resist having a pop at her co-star Anton Du Beke.

The 63-year-old professional dancer was unveiling her new crime novel, Murder On The Dance Floor, at Sainsbury's in Heaton Park, Manchester, when she stumbled across Anton's recent publication on the shelves of the store. Without much hesitation Shirley set out with a plot to take a cheeky swipe at her co-judge.

Shirley noticed Anton's romantic wartime saga, The Paris Affair, had been propped up in an ideal location within the superstore and she wanted that spot. Being sneaky, she set out with her own creations to cover over the book belonging to her fellow BBC judge.

With an accomplice filming her actions, Shirley did just that, making sure Anton's hardback read was no longer visible. She placed her own novel over the top of all of his books and adding further insult to injury she uploaded the segment to Instagram for all to see.

Taking to social media with the "naughty" swipe, the lead panellist on the glitzy programme penned: "Sorry @mrantondubeke … it wasn't me @sainsburys," which lead to many outcries for Anton to respond. Until now the ballroom dancer has remained silent on the matter.

But that didn't deter many fans from taking to the comments section to gush about Shirley's humorous prank. One person wrote: "Oooh naughty Shirley," with a laughing emoji. Another quipped: "No wonder I can not get a copy of Anton's lol." While a third chimed in: "Ohh Shirley, this is actually hilarious."

More recently, Shirley spoke about the "best day of her life" as she ditched BBC's Strictly to appear on the iconic sci-fi sitcom – which marks its 60th anniversary on Thursday, November 23 – Doctor Who. The head judge was "excited" to make a guest appearance on the programme.

Making an appearance on Morning Live with presenter Gethin Jones and screenwriter and producer Russel Davies, the cat slipped out of the bag that there might be someone else in the studio who could "potentially" be on Doctor Who.

Gethin responded: "Do you mean the top secret information that Shirley Ballas is going to appear in Doctor Who?" Coming into view, Shirley then commented: "The filming was one of the best days of my life.:

She added: "We're doing a guest appearance with Jojo (Strictly professional Johannes Radebe) where I actually get to perform with Jojo and so many other dancers on the show, so I’m very, very excited for people to watch."
