Amy Walsh emotional as terminally ill dad walks her down aisle at wedding

Emmerdale’s Amy Walsh has reflected on having her terminally ill dad walk her down the aisle at her wedding to Toby-Alexander Smith.

The actress, who plays Amy Wyatt in the ITV soap, tied the knot with EastEnders star Toby, it was confirmed earlier this week, during a beautiful ceremony in Talici Hill Rustic Villas in Montenegro.

Discussing the big day, Amy said that, up until the last minute, she wasn’t sure if her father would be able to make it, revealing that he’s ‘not very well’.

‘My brother handed me over to my dad, who walked me down the last bit,’ she said. ‘He knows he only has a certain amount of time left, so it was important for him to be there.

‘It’s a cancer you can’t cure, but you can live with it and he’s doing well fighting it.’

Toby, who played Gray Atkins in EastEnders, added to OK! Magazine: ‘Amy’s dad was very emotional – it was a very poignant moment for me.

Amy and Toby reportedly met in 2019 during a Strictly Come Dancing show. They’ve been together ever since and welcomed a baby girl named Bonnie in 2021.

The happy couple announced last year that they were engaged.

EastEnders star Toby took to social media in August of the year in question to share the big news with a selfie, which showed off Amy’s engagement ring.

‘So this happened’, He wrote on Instagram, alongside the snap.’

Amy, meanwhile, not only tied the knot in real-life but she also did so in Emmerdale this year, with her big return storyline seeing Tracy be revealed as Nate Robinson’s (Jurell Carter) secret bride.

After a number of obstacles that almost prevented the wedding from taking place, the two characters said their vows in what was a particularly heartfelt episode of the ITV serial.
