BBC EastEnders teases Danny Dyer return as Linda gets text from Mick Carter

It's set to be an emotional Christmas on Albert Square for Linda Carter, who will soon find herself at the centre of a truly heartbreaking storyline.

To recap, after nine years in Walford, Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) said his goodbyes during 2022's dramatic Christmas Day episode. Viewers will remember the Queen Vic landlord diving into the sea to save his childhood sweetheart Linda, (Kellie Bright) after Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) drove them both off a cliff.

However, Mick didn't realise that Linda had already escaped from the submerged vehicle and had made it safely to shore. After much suspense, the show ended with Mick still missing and many fearing the worst. Fans were right, too, as to this day, Mick's body has never been recovered, and police even gave Linda a certificate of presumed death earlier in the year.

Now, almost a year on, Linda's life will be turned upside down once more. It comes as she starts to receive texts from Mick, which understandably leaves her confused, terrified, and flooded with painful memories.

Following this, Linda then runs into Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo), who since his return to the square, has been making her life a living hell by forcing her to lie about him raping her in 2014.

Ahead of the traumatic and triggering scenes, Kellie Bright has opened up about Dean's return and Mick's out of the blue comeback.

While speaking at a recent press event, Kellie explained who the real culprit is, and what viewers can expect from future episodes – including a confrontation between her and Dean.

"Well it's Mick. Da da da. She gets a text from Mick, or so she thinks."

Kellie then added: "It's not Mick. Three guesses, who do you think it is? It's Dean."

Dean's sadistic prank instantly puts him in the running to be the mystery Walford man who is murdered this Christmas.

It also puts Linda in the position of being a potential suspect, especially after learning that her confrontation with Dean doesn't go to plan.

Kellie admitted: "So there is a moment between them and actually what Linda thinks is going to be the outcome of that conversation is not what the outcome of that conversation is and let's just say it leaves her not in the place that she wants."

Other EastEnders suspects also present at the scene of the crime include Kathy Beale, Suki Panesar, Denise Fox, Stacey Slater and Sharon Watts.
