BBC Strictlys Krishnan admits I am crumbling inside over Blackpool decider

It Takes Two: Krishnan feeling the pressure as Blackpool looms

Strictly Come Dancing star Krishnan Guru-Murthy admitted he is “crumbling inside” at the prospect of the coming weekend.

The newsreader is more nervous than usual because whoever gets through after this weekend of the BBC competition will achieve a sought-after Blackpool spot.

Speaking on Thursday’s spin-off show, It Takes Two, the 53-year-old struggled to hide his nerves about impressing the judges this week.

“You are a showman, you do deliver on the Saturday night, something takes over,” host Janette Manrara assured him.

She continued: “48 hours until you do your samba – tell me how you’re feeling.”

“Um, I am… I’m feeling like if I can pull this one off, then I hope I can sort of surprise myself and everybody else,” Krishnan replied.

“And you know, it’s a big hill to climb this week. This week is like a serious week because of Blackpool…”

“Yeah, it’s so close, isn’t it?” Janette agreed.

“Everything feels a bit more serious and a little bit more at stake…” Krishnan confessed.

After some hesitation, he added: “There are times at this point where I’m slightly crumbling inside…

“But I’m not crumbling inside, I’m feeling alright.”

“We are not going to go in like that,” Janette commanded.

“Lauren says, ‘Are you alright?’ and I go, ‘Yes,’ and she says, ‘But you’re not really, are you?'” the journalist stated.

Laughing, he admitted: “And I go, ‘No!'”

“Well, we’re going to leave it to you two to figure it out, regardless. Good luck at the weekend!” Janette commented.

Last week, Krishnan and partner Lauren Oakley performed a Couple’s Choice to You Can Call Me Al by Paul Simon.

They received a score of 29 from judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Shirley Ballas.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 6.05pm on BBC One, while It Takes Two airs weekdays from 6.30pm on BBC Two.
