BBC Strictlys Nikita Kuzmin makes plea after Layton Williams lands in dreaded dance-off
BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin have shared a sneak peek into their training this week as they gear up for the quarter-finals.
After surviving last weekend's dance-off, the pair are set to return to the ballroom on tonight (December 2).
Actor and West End star Layton and professional dancer Nikita had to perform their routine again after the public vote put them in the dance-off against Angela Scanlon and Carlos Gu.
Both couples danced their hearts out, with Layton and Nikita performing their American Smooth to It's Oh So Quiet by Bjork, and Angela and Carlos doing their Cha Cha to I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor. However, it was Angela and Carlos who were sent home after three of the four judges chose to save Layton and Nikita.
Earlier this week, during an appearance on Strictly spin-off It Takes Two, Layton opened up about his disappointment at not impressing the judges with his American Smooth, as reported by Manchester Evening News.
He shared his feelings with presenter Fleur East: "I totally get it. It's been 10 weeks and I'm not going to lie, I thought I would be in the bottom two much more than that. I was nervous because the last time I had done this kind of vibe was Movies Week and it didn't go down as well as I would have hoped.
"The proof is in the pudding. It is really hard when you get that kind of critique and you are in the bottom two because you don't want to be disappointed because genuinely. I did do the best I could. My best is just not good enough and that's okay."
Since then, Layton and Nikita have been working their socks off in training as they gear up to perform a Paso Doble to Backstage Romance from the musical Moulin Rouge.
In a video posted on Nikita's Instagram page, the pair were seen in the training room as the Ukrainian dancer said: "We haven't spoken to you a lot this week because we're really pushing, pushing, pushing after being in the dance-off which was obviously not the best thing on earth.
"But, we're coming back for you. We're coming back for ourselves and we're coming back fighting [with a] paso double [to] Moulin Rouge. It feels fun but we're 100% committed to the role and everything."
He then turned to Layton and said: "You're doing a really good job."
Layton shared his excitement, saying: "We hope to do you all proud. We're going to go out there and hopefully absolutely smash it. Musicals week… We shall see but I'm feeling pretty good about this."
Nikita added: "It feels fun and obviously we'll see how it goes on the night but lots of love. Thank you for all the support and please support us this Saturday."
