ITV Corrie’s Lucy Fallon got bit of ‘old self’ back with cobbles return after having baby

Coronation Street star Lucy Fallon revealed she's "got a bit of her old self back", as she's returned to the soap after a three-year hiatus.

The actress, who plays Bethany Platt, appeared on ITV's Lorraine on Thursday, 21 December, to discuss her life as a mum and her return to Coronation Street. Her character left in 2020 to pursue a magazine internship in London.

Away from TV screens, Lucy, 28, is a busy mum to Sonny and while returning to the cobbles has been "the best decision", she admitted that it's "a juggle."

But she confessed that she was initially nervous about her return to Coronation Street and now viewers will see Bethany make an explosive return to Weatherfield in the ITV soap's New Year's Eve episode.

Speaking to Louise Minchin, who was standing in for Lorraine Kelly, Lucy gushed about her one-year-old son, Sonny, with footballer Ryan Ledson and revealed that returning to work has helped her get a bit of her "old self" back.

On balancing being a mum and getting back to work, Lucy admitted: "It's been really nice but it’s a huge juggle, trying to figure out where he's going to be when I have work at 7am and Ryan’s got to go to football.

"So it is a juggle, but it's kind of nice because I've got a little bit of my old self back which I think sometimes you can lose when you have a baby."

Lucy also spoke about her highly-anticipated return to Coronation Street, which she described as "the best decision".

‌She explained: "The best decision I've ever made, going back. It's just the best place to work and some of my best friends work on that show, so I'm just so happy."

But she added that she was nervous and worried that her fellow cast members wouldn't remember who she was.

She added: "It was, it was like the first day back at school. I’d had nearly four years away from the show and then going back, I was like, 'Am I going to know my lines?’ Are people going to remember who I am when I walk into the building?' Will people be like, 'Who is this girl?'

‌"I was super nervous, but after a few days it was like I’d never been away."

‌Talking about Sonny, Lucy revealed she was exciting for his first Christmas and said they'd be spending the festive season with family.

Speaking of her little family, she gushed about their "team." She said: "We have a lovely set up, me, Ryan and Sonny. We’re a good little team."

Lucy first returned to the Coronation Street set back in October 2023. At the time, she was seen in a short video posted to the soap’s official Instagram page where she revealed it was her first day back filming, and she looked completely different to when she was last on the cobbles.

The actress said in the clip: "Hello everyone it's me, Bethany. It's my first day back filming today. I am very excited, a little bit nervous, but I can't wait for you all to see what Bethany is up to. Bye!"

The soap captioned the video: "Look who's back! Bethany returns with a whole new look. Watch out for her arrival on screen towards the end of the year."
