BBC Strictly’s Vito Coppola gushes over ‘diamond’ Ellie Leach amid romance rumours
Strictly Come Dancing star Vito Coppola heaped praise on his celeb dance partner Ellie Leach once more on Sunday night, amid rumours of a romance between the pair.
On Sunday, the duo celebrated as they made it through for another week, and learned they would be performing during the Blackpool special.
As their names were announced, the pair embraced and thanked viewers – with Vito, 31, planting a number of kisses on Ellie's, 22, head.
When speaking to host Claudia Winkleman after, Vito told her that Ellie was a "diamond". Claudia had asked him about it before pulling a face, putting him on the spot to see what he meant amid romance rumours swirling.
He told her: "Yes Claudia, Ellie for me is like a diamond. But not the normal diamond, she's like this rough diamond that you need to put under pressure and shine the sides, and at the end it becomes the diamond."
Claudia asked Vito, "So rough?" to which he responded, while Ellie giggled: "At the moment we are in-between the rough and the shiny perfect, we're in-between, we are in the process."
As the audience laughed, Ellie added: "Yeah… okay." Claudia then advised, "Okay… everyone breathe."
Coronation Street actress Ellie and pro dancer Vito have yet to confirm whether they are dating or not, but their former Strictly co-star Amanda Abbington appeared to confirm they were an item when she commented on a snap of the pair.
Ellie had posted a photo of herself and Vito, on which Amanda commented: "Stunning. So proud of the both of you. You are the most beautiful couple!"
Fans have pointed to some of the pair's on-screen kisses as evidence that they may be in a relationship, however speaking to OK! Ellie has said that they're just a sign of friendship.
She told us: "He gives me a kiss on the cheek every Saturday! It was definitely on the cheek."
Cupid’s arrow may not have struck the pair, despite the rumours saying otherwise, Ellie has insisted that they’ll be friends for life.
"We really, really get along and we have a lovely friendship,” she says. “I hope we can continue that.
“We’ve got a really good relationship where we kind of know what the other needs. Vito even lets me have power naps during training,” she continues.
“If my brain’s not in the room he’ll be like, ‘Ellie, you need to take 15 minutes. Just close your eyes. Just have a little nap and then reset and we’ll go again.’ Sometimes your brain is filled with so much new information that you could be going over it for an hour and nothing’s going in.”
