Benidorm co-stars engaged and look worlds away from their characters in loved-up snap
Laila Zaidi and Adam Gillen have announced their engagement on Instagram, after falling in love back in 2018 while filming the popular TV comedy Benidorm.
Sharing the exciting news with her fans, Laila, 31, shared some loved-up snaps from Croatia, where they were holidaying when Adam popped the question.
Captioning the photos, in which she showed off her gorgeous ring, Laila wrote: "A whole week of being a diiiirty flirttttyyy thirty FIANCÉ !!!!!!! [ring emoji] [nine heart emojis]."
The couple's celeb pals were quick to share congratulatory messages, with Game of Thrones actress Nathalie Emmanuel writing: "Awwwww congratulations!!!" and actress Sophie Rundle added: "SO GORGEOUUUUUS!! Congratulations!!!"
And Fresh Meat's Greg McHugh penned: “Congrats yous legends of love!!!!.”
The acting duo, who met playing Liam and Cyd on Benidorm, started dating in 2018, the same year that the hit show was axed.
And in the years since the show ended, Adam looks worlds away from the fresh-faced and ginger hair look he was known for on the show, and now looks almost unrecognisable with bearded stubble and light blonde hair.
Benidorm followed British holidaymakers enjoying themselves in the Spanish sun at the fictional Solana resort.
Fans will remember character Adam's character Liam changed careers in series five, leaving the holiday destination to work at the Blow 'n' Go salon with Kenneth Du Beke, but although he was no longer a regular member of the hotel staff, he continued on the show until the end of series 10.
While Laila joined the show as Cyd, Rob Dawson's fiancee, in the final series.
Loyal fans were devastated to see the end of the iconic show after the show kept them laughing for over a decade.
Final scenes included watching the Dawson family attempting to get home for their 25th wedding anniversary party but of course, nothing ran smoothly, and the worry over staff at the Solana Hotel when they discovered that the resort of being taken over and sold.
Rumours did swirl for a while that an unexpected series 11 was in the pipeline but actress Siobhan Finneran, who played Janice Garvey, shut that down.
She said to The Sun: "Cast and creatives met at a comedy convention for the show, back in the summer, and some stories about a possible TV revival grew out of that. But sadly that was all they were, rumours.
"You should probably never say never to anything so popular but as far as I know it won’t be coming back at any point."
