Channel 4 axes two popular shows as broadcaster continues programme cuts
BRITs: Mo Gilligan asks Leigh Anne Pinnock about her children
Channel 4 has axed two more popular shows from it’s schedule, as the broadcaster continues programme cuts. The Lateish Show with comedian Mo Gilligan will not be returning, as well as The Hobby Man with Alex Brooker, which saw the star travelling the world and picking up new hobbies.
Two shows that were previously axed were Steph’s Packed Lunch and SAS: Who Dares Wins. A spokesperson for Channel 4 said: “Every year, Channel 4, like all broadcasters, make decisions about which shows to rest, return or conclude to ensure we always innovate and offer viewers the best range of programming.
“Additionally, with audience habits changing faster than ever, we need to focus our resources more rigorously and prioritise programmes that drive digital growth. However, the proportion of shows that we are choosing not to recomission is no different to recent years.”
Mo, 35, took to Instagram to share the sad news about the cancellation of his chat show with his 98,000 followers. He began: “So, big news to share… After four incredible years, The Christmas episode of The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan which, transmits at 10pm on Wednesday 20th December will be my last.
“I can’t even begin to describe how proud I am of this show. It genuinely changed my life and has created an industry-wide impact. It’s won numerous awards and achieved even more nominations, but it’s the army of people behind the scenes that made it happen who are so important.
