Coronation Street: Paul struggles to lift his wine glass

Coronation Street’s Paul Foreman (played by Peter Ash) will be shaken after the death of his new friend Shelley Rossington (Natalie Amber).

A few weeks ago, ITV viewers saw Paul attend a support group in light of his MND diagnosis where he befriended Shelley, whose condition was at a further stage than his.

Initially hesitant to speak to her, the pair struck up a close friendship, although he’s set for heartbreak in upcoming scenes.

However, before tragedy strikes, there are celebrations for Paul as he prepares for his stag do with husband-to-be Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brockleback).

Official spoilers for the ITV soap reveal the couple are handed a Polaroid camera by Summer Spellman (Harriett Bibby) for the night who tells them phones are banned.

Thrilled at the idea, they set off to the Bistro where it’s been fully decked out in glitter and rainbow, much to Billy’s shock.

Although Paul seems to be in his element as Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) starts off the party with drinking games.

Elsewhere, their mum Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) has police on her doorstep who reveal they’d like her to answer some questions regarding a potential fraud investigation involving Shelley.

Going to the station, Bernie stays quiet as she tells the authorities she’s helping a young woman with MND by collecting a few parcels for her.

Although she’s fully aware Shelley had been buying laptops on her old company credit card and selling them to be able to pay for her carers.

However, it seems as though the police have a shocking revelation in store that leaves Paul reeling.

Later on, Paul makes an important decision about his future as he confides in Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce).

Revealing he has a plan to end his life with assisted dying at a later stage, he asks Todd to keep quiet not wanting people to know.

It looks as though death is at the forefront of Paul’s mind at the moment as his friend Shelley loses her battle with MND.

Going over her funeral arrangements with George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley), Paul explains he’s written some words about Shelley that he’d like to be placed with her body.

Will viewers get to see Paul’s final words to his friend? Will Todd reveal all about his assisted dying plans to Billy?

Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV from 8pm.
