Coronation Street’s Underworld future ‘confirmed’ — and fans will be heartbroken

The future of Coronation Street’s iconic factory Underworld has been 'confirmed' by AI – and fans will be gutted.

Carla (Alison King) has been the proud owner of the knicker factory since 2012. Loyal soap fans will recall how she was left with 40% of ex-Frank Foster’s share of the factory in his will.

When he was murdered, Carla was then made the sole owner of Underworld. And it’s fair to say the business has had its fair share of drama, from blazing fires to the entire building collapsing.

Carla is currently on a mission to bring back the factory from the brink. Before his death, Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) stole £250,000 from the company.

The strong-minded businesswoman has even headed on a trip to Spain recently – in a bid to save her pride and joy. Unfortunately for Carla the trip was a waste, and this week she returned to the cobbles to share the glum news.

Now, it’s been claimed the factory could be going under in a shock twist. Daily Star has quizzed one of the world’s most popular artificially intelligent “creative” tools Bard AI, to see if Carla can save Underworld.

The program responded: “The factory has faced many challenges in the past, including fires, factory collapses, and financial difficulties. If Carla is forced to sell her share of the factory, Underworld could be forced to close. This would have a devastating impact on the community, as many people rely on the factory for their jobs.”

However, Bard AI did note it’s possible Carla will overcome the obstacles and save Underworld. The system explained: “She is a resourceful and determined businesswoman, and she has a strong team of workers behind her.“

Fans of the soap have also shared their thoughts on the future of the factory. Over on X, formerly known as Twitter, plenty reckon it’ll be going under.

One fan said: “Can the factory be saved? I don’t think it will.” Someone else mused: “Knock the factory down, turn it into flats.”

A third quipped: “I would definitely be on board with the factory being done with.” Another follower penned: “First Rovers and now the factory? There will be nothing on the street soon.”
