Holly Willoughby ‘considering quitting UK’ as she tries to move on from ‘year from hell’
Holly Willoughby is said to be 'considering quitting the UK' as she tries to move on from her 'year from hell', which included her quitting This Morning after 14 years.
The 42 year old mum of three sensationally quit This Morning after the news that a 36 year old man was arrested and charged after police discovered an alleged plot to 'kidnap and murder' her.
A source told Closer that Holly had always liked the idea of going abroad for a while, not just to approach her career differently, but to give her children a new experience.
They continued: “With everything that has happened recently, she has told pals it may be the perfect time to do it – and make the jump after years of having it swirling around in the back of her head as a distant dream.
“She’s felt like a bit of a recluse in London, feeling like a prisoner in her own home. She’s hated losing her freedom."
Going to America, they said, would give Holly and her family an escape from their current situation.
OK! has contacted Holly's reps for comment.
Holly has had a rough year after the Phillip Schofield drama that left her without a permanent co-host, when Phillip, 61, admitted to to an “unwise but not illegal” affair with a much younger male colleague and quit the show.
Taking to Instagram to share the news of her departure from This Morning on October 10, Holly released a statement on Instagram which read: “I have let ITV know today that after 14 years, I will not be returning to This Morning.
“To everyone who has ever worked on the show over the years, thank you so much. This is such a difficult goodbye, you are incredible and I forever will be proud of what we’ve done together.
“Thank you to everyone at ITV for being supportive. To every guest who has sat on our sofa, thank you."
Holly then paid a special tribute to viewers at home who had supported her during her career so far, as she added: “Most of all, thank you to the wonderful viewers. You’ve been so loyal, so supportive and the very best company every day.”
Holly also name-checked former hosts Richard Madeley and Judy Finnegan, as she concluded: “Richard and Judy said, ‘we only look after this show, it will always belong to the viewers’.
“It’s been an honour to be part it’s story and I know this story has many chapters left to go. Sadly however, I now feel I have to make this decision for me and my family.”
The statement then ended with an emotional goodbye, as Holly concluded: “I will miss you all so much.”
