Holly Willoughby eats burger and poses with The Repair Shops Jay Blades after NTA loss

All eyes were on This Morning host Holly Willoughby last night, as she attended the annual National Television Awards – her first without former co-host Phillip Schofield.

The ITV show was once again nominated for Best Daytime show award – a prize it has nabbed consecutively for years – but Holly's hopes of taking to the stage were dashed when The Repair Shop claimed the top spot instead.

And the 42 year old mother-of-three appeared unable to hide her disappointment on the night – despite putting on a brave face – and was later seen consoling herself with some much-needed junk food.

She shared the photo of herself tucking into a greasy burger on Instagram, captioning it: "Say (quarter pounder with) CHEESE".

Holly had previously shared a black and white snapped as she posed beside winner Jay Blades, presenter of The Repair Shop.

"To this gorgeous man @jaybladesmbe and the whole team at @therepairshoptv … Hugest Congratulations!!! And what a night it was for the incredible Sarah Lancashire … @joeldommet thank you for a great night… See you in the morning," she wrote.

Holly's attempt to brush over the ITV show's massive loss comes after winning the enviable award for 12 years straight. The loss follows the recent Phillip Schofield scandal and his exit from the show. 

Whilst The One Show host Jermaine Jenas and Capital FM presenter Roman Kemp took to the stage to announce the nominees for Best Daytime show, a roar of boos could be heard around London's O2 Arena, when a clip of This Morning was played.

Whilst on the red carpet prior to the awards ceremony, Holly spoke out following Phillip's scandal and toxic claims about the show, revealing that is a "world" that she doesn't "recognise".

Her former pal stepped down from his role on the show in May and later admitted to previously having an "unwise but not illegal" affair with a much younger colleague.

Speaking to OK! on the matter, Holly said: "I know there's been lots of reports about things and for me personally, you know, I don't want to speak on behalf of other people, but it's a world I honestly I don't recognise."

Holly continued and said: "I think that we all look after each other is the honest truth".

The TV presenter also addressed how "difficult" her year has been at times, but that people want things to "move on".

She told OK!: "This last year has been quite difficult at times. You know, if I'm really honest, it's been up and down. I think it's been a really difficult year for everybody but what's lovely is you find that people rally around you and, you know, the goodwill is there."

Holly continued: "People want things to move on".
