ITV I’m A Celeb host Ant gets sweet surprise from Dec on 48th birthday ahead of show launch
I'm A Celebrity host Ant McPartlin was surprised by his presenting partner and best friend Dec Donnelly for his 48th birthday in Australia ahead of the new series of the show.
Dec sweetly brought in a cake for him which he joked was all the way from the UK and said: "He's finally caught me up, two months younger than me. Now here he is, the same age as me, 29 today!"
Ant hoped he was getting a fruitcake, which he loves, but cut into the sponge and realised it was chocolate. Meanwhile, Dec, who was wearing a party hat, said: "I prefer chocolate cake. Everyone loves chocolate cake."
His best pal said: "That's a lot of chocolate, I'll have just a bit of the sponge… happy birthday to me!"
Speaking to the Mirror, a source revealed that Ant and Dec have been preparing hard for this year's I'm A Celebrity, and took a short break to celebrate the birthday.
They added: "It might be his birthday but there was no relaxing for Ant. The series is about to begin and he wants it to kick off in style."
Ant is very excited to welcome a new cast of celebrities to the jungle and spoke of his joy about the series earlier this week. He said: "I can’t wait for the show to begin, it’s a great cast. It’s a really strong line up.”
However, the lead-up to the new series has not been without its controversy, as fans of the show have threatened to stop watching it because Nigel Farage is taking part.
The former UKIP leader, who has become infamous for his controversial comments on a number of issues, landed in Brisbane earlier this week.
He is thought to have been paid a whopping £1.5 million by ITV to appear on the show, despite viewers claiming they will boycott the show because of him being a part of it.
Nigel will be joined in the jungle by This Morning presenter Josie Gibson, First Dates star Fred Sirieix, Made in Chelsea's Sam Thompson, JLS singer Marvin Humes, EastEnders actress Danielle Harold, influencer Nella Rose, actor Nick Pickard, food critic Grace Dent and Britney's sister Jamie-Lynn Spears.
