Jeff Brazier emotional as his son ‘becomes a man’ on Strictly

Jeff Brazier left fans full of emotion yesterday as he spoke of his pride at watching his son Bobby Brazier “becoming a man” on Strictly Come Dancing.

Speaking as a guest on Steph’s Packed Lunch on Channel 4, Jeff spoke about his son Bobby who is currently competing on the BBC series with his pro partner Dianne Buswell.

“It’s really exciting at the moment. It’s relentless, sometimes he comes home and can’t even string a sentence together!” said Jeff.

“But he’s loving it. Dianne is a very special person and I’m so glad he’s been partnered up with her. She’s been amazing.”

Speaking about the iconic Blackpool ballroom this weekend, Jeff said: “I think Bobby has been focusing just week after week.

“I don’t think he would’ve learned as much as he thought he would have. But he’s got a really good attitude.

“I feel like I am watching my son become a man!”

Steph McGovern responded with an “Awww” as Jeff continued: “He’s grown in strength. You can see that in a lot of his routines now.”

Jeff met Jade Goodey in 2002 and they had two children, before parting ways in 2004.

Jade died from cervical cancer aged 27 in 2009, just seven months after she was diagnosed.

Bobby is currently dazzling the judges on Strictly Come Dancing, but last weekend, he left pro partner Dianne very red-faced after an awkward bedroom confession.

The 20-year-old EastEnders actor and the Australian dancer performed to the song Ghost of You by 5 Seconds of Summer and dazzled the judges with an American Smooth routine.

After the dance, Claudia Winkleman asked Bobby if he had been rehearsing his moves “in his sleep”.

“I woke up one morning doing this,” Bobby admitted, waving his hands in the air.

He continued: “And then the week before, the person that I shared the bed with, I turned, and I said, ‘This is the industrial twist.'”

His bedroom confession stunned Claudia, Dianne, and the rest of the professional dancers, who began to laugh at his comment.

Mortified, Bobby muttered: “Anyway,” before Claudia quipped: “Let’s pull on that string.”

Moving swiftly on, Claudia then added: “OK. Good. I’ll tell you what, we’re gonna halt it there. Congratulations again.”

Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday evening on BBC One.
