Jonnie Irwin discusses home improvements on BBC’s Morning Live

BBC fans were thilled on Monday after Jonnie Irwin made a rare TV appearance on Morning Live amid his cancer diagnosis.

On Sunday, Jonnie took to his Instagram account to confirm his TV return.

The former A Place in the Sun star shared a snap of Gethin Jones and his BBC co-stars on set.

While Jonnie didn’t appear in the studio, he did feature in a pre-recorded clip about house renovations.

The presenter penned on Instagram: “Tune in tomorrow to watch this lovely lot on @bbcmorninglive where you can watch the second of the 2 VT’s I filmed on property renovation.

“It starts at 9.30am on BBC ONE. If you missed the previous one last Monday you can catch up on @bbciplayer . #renovation #property.” (sic)

Jonnie’s followers were thrilled to see him back on their screens, with many taking to the comments section to share their thoughts.

“We love you jonnie will be absolutely watching,” one fan penned.

Another said: “We will be watching, Jonnie.”

A third echoed: “Thanks for the reminder after school will be watching with a brew x.”

“You are amazing. And inspiration to everyone,” another fan went on.

Introducing the segment, Rav said: “Next we are making your money go further on a march larger scale with property expert, Jonnie Irwin.

“After being diagnosed with terminal cancer, he plans to renovate a house he plans to leave to his kids.”

Gabby went on: “Today he is show the improvements you can make to the outside of your home to add thousands of pounds to the value.”

Jonnie was first diagnosed with lung cancer in 2020 and was told by doctors he likely only had six months to live.

However, Jonnie refused to give up and he decided to fight for his life by forcing himself out of bed, drinking protein shakes to build up his strength and spending hours in an oxygen tent in a bid to curb any growth of the disease.

He also underwent treatment, including chemotherapy.

Morning Live airs weekdays at 9.15am on BBC One.
