Matthew Perrys shocking premonition about his death just months before jacuzzi tragedy
Just under one year prior to his tragic passing on 28 October, Matthew Perry made a shocking premonition about his death in his memoir Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing.
The actor, who shot to fame in the 1990s for his portrayal of Chandler Bing in hit US sitcom Friends, opened up about his life on and off screen in his memoir, which was published in November 2022, as well as his struggles with addiction.
Matthew made an eerie confession in the book, writing: "Not only do I have the disease, but I also have it bad. I have it as bad as you can have it, in fact. It’s back-to-the-wall time all the time. It’s going to kill me."
Matthew had suffered from alcohol and drug addiction for a number of years, and had made it his mission to help others experiencing the same issues. In recent years he turned his former Malibu beach home into a men's sober living facility called Perry House.
In his book, Matthew revealed that in 2018, his loved ones were told he had just a two percent chance of survival after his colon burst due to opioid overuse. The actor was in a coma for two weeks and had a colostomy bag fitted, which he had to use for nine months.
Matthew also admitted he had made around 6,000 trips to Alcoholics Anonymous, went to rehab 15 times, and needed 12 life-saving operations throughout his lifetime.
While the star is known globally as Friends character Chandler Bing, he previously told how he couldn't bring himself to watch the hit show due to his addiction struggles throughout filming.
He said: "I didn’t watch the show, and haven’t watched the show, because I could go, drinking, opiates, drinking, cocaine.
"I could tell season by season by how I looked. That’s why I don’t wanna watch it, because that’s what I see."
He continued: "I was taking 55 Vicodin a day, I weighed 128 lbs, I was on Friends getting watched by 30 million people – and that’s why I can’t watch the show, ‘cause I was brutally thin."
However, Matthew said he never took drugs or drank while working out of respect for his five Friends co-stars; Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer and Matt Le Blanc.
"I had a rule that I would never drink or do drugs while working," he said. "Because I had too much respect for the five people I was working with.
"So I was never wasted while working. The thing that always makes me cry… is that it’s not fair. It’s not fair that I had to go through this disease while the other five didn’t."
