'Shout out to my gays!' Charli XCX gives epic response to EastEnders baby name
In an incredible twist for a Tuesday evening, Charli XCX has responded to the news that Lily Slater (Lillia Turner) and Ricky Mitchell (Frankie Day) in EastEnders have named their baby after her.
13-year-old Lily gave birth to her baby in Tuesday’s (September 5) episode of the BBC One soap.
After a dramatic home birth, Lily was checked over at hospital and was joined by Ricky, Charli’s dad.
As Ricky held his daughter for the first time, Lily allowed him to reveal her name to their excited parents.
He revealed that they had chosen to call her Charli, which left Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) touched as she asked if it was after her uncle Charlie.
Stacey soon became emotional over Charli’s name, though she was quickly corrected by young Ricky, who revealed she was actually named after popstar Charli XCX.
Charlie was the father of Kat, Little Mo, Lynne and Belinda Slater, and grandfather to Zoe. The girls often left him exasperated with their antics and it was safe to say that they had him wrapped around their little fingers.
Viewers were devastated when Charlie sadly died of a heart attack in 2016, 16 years after first appearing on the show.

Completely iconic.
If you’ll excuse us, we’re off to clear 5-7 working days in our diary to at least try and recover from this.
