Stacey Solomon hilariously details ‘secret hiding place’ at Pickle Cottage where she escapes 5 kids at Christmas
Stacey Solomon has revealed the hilarious ‘secret hiding place’ she uses at home when she wants to escape from her big family at Christmas.
The 34 year old Loose Women panelist is a mum of five, sharing three children with husband Joe Swash – Rex, four, Rose, two, and Belle, seven months – as well as sons Zachary, 15, and Leighton, 11, from previous relationships.
And Stacey revealed on Wednesday's episode of the ITV daytime show that, when she needs a few minutes respite from the Christmas chaos, she heads to the freezing cold downstairs toilet at her £1.2M Pickle Cottage home.
When asked if she had a festive hiding place, the former X Factor star replied: "How can you have five kids and not have a hiding place?”
She added: "Yeah, I always go in the downstairs toilet because no one likes that toilet because it ain't got a radiator so it's a bit colder in there. No one goes in there – I love sitting in there in silence and just like pretending I'm on the toilet – is that so weird?
"I can lock the door and sometimes I'll leave the light off so it doesn't even look like I'm in there and play on my phone."
As her co-stars laughed, Stacey continued: "And I can hear Joe [Swash] faffing with something and he'll be like, 'Stace! Stace!' And I think, 'If I ignore him long enough, he'll work out how to do it on his own,' so I just sit there."
"And how often do you use this downstairs loo?" co-star Christine Lampard asked.
"Oh, every day – I need at least 10 minutes a day," Stacey admitted.
Coleen Nolan cut in to joke: "Oh wow, have they not just made a doctor's appointment for you yet if you're always on the toilet?"
"I don't think they take much notice, to be honest," Stacey replied.
Meanwhile, also on Wednesday, Stacey took to social media to say she was going to be 'unapologetically me' in 2024. The Sort Your Life Out star said on Instagram that she was "so excited" for next year – before revealing she felt like she had been "held back" over the last few years due to worrying about what "others think".
Stacey wrote on her stories: “I finished all my admin today & ended all my work meetings. Then I cleaned out the office and got it ready for 2024."
She added: “I can honestly say I’m so excited for next year. I’m calling it the “f**k it” year because I think the last couple of years I’ve worried a little too much what others think & it’s held me back!
“I'm not doing that next year! I’m going to do a massive January sort out through the house and through my brain and then just start being a bit more unapologetically me.
“And maybe throw myself into some things that scare me but also could be SUPER exciting! No pressure though because who needs that."
