Strictly Come Dancing star welcomes show’s curse as ‘a blessing’
Strictly unveils BBC presenter Nikita Kanda as ninth contestant
Soon-to-be Strictly Come Dancing contestant Nikita Kanda has described the “Strictly curse” as “a blessing.”
Previous series of the BBC show have been littered with ended relationships as some pairs end long-term romances in favor of their dance partners.
There have been several examples through the years, and while some fear the curse, 28-year-old presenter Nikita seems to be welcoming it.
The DJ was announced as the ninth famous face to be stepping onto the dance floor this year, and when asked by The Sun if the curse could be a blessing, she replied: “Hopefully, yeah!”
She continued: “But that’s not in my mindset because I am so focused on enjoying the show and I want to get stuck into it and learn the dances.

“I am fully single. I’m just focused on work now — my breakfast show and Strictly.
“I am basically double-shifting, so it is going to be a lot of my time.
“I am not going to have time to do anything else right now. I am happily single and happy to stay that way.”
While Nikita may or may not have her sights set on her future dance partner, she recently made clear she won’t be letting slip who that is.

She captioned a video on her Instagram: “When people won’t stop asking who your dance partner is.”
Nikita also asked her followers to “be patient friends,” as she used a trending sound to humorously hit back at fans who have been probing her for more information.

Nikita has also been candid with her social media followers about her struggles.
She recently opened up about how she “failed a lot” in her school days.
Sharing a post about the experience, Nikita said it was “humbling” to remember where she started but admitted she could cause chaos in classes.
In a snap shared on her Instagram page, Nikita posed with two teachers as they pulled a variety of funny faces.
She captioned the post: “I went back to my old school today. I was invited to give a speech to 500 students about my career as a broadcaster since leaving & never giving up on your dreams.
“It was a proper trip down memory lane. I was just as chaotic then as I am now.
“I knew all I wanted to do was work in media and be on radio and TV. I wasn’t the best student, I failed a lot but the teachers didn’t let me give up.” (sic)
Strictly Come Dancing is set to return to BBC One later this month.
