Strictly fears as ‘infection’ may cause contestant to pull out of live show
Strictly’s Jody talks about infection
Strictly Come Dancing contestant Jody Cundy may be forced to pull out of this weekend’s live show.
On Thursday night, the Paralympian appeared on It Takes Two with partner Jowita Przystal to speak about how their new routine is coming along.
However, the 44-year-old confessed their rehearsals have come to a halt following an infection.
Although he usually wears a prosthetic leg, Jody didn’t have it on during his chat with BBC host Janette Manrara as he detailed the reason why.
He said: “It’s a week of highs and lows, the first two days, absolutely flown by.

“By the end of day two we’d done the full routine a number of times from start to finish which I had not done for the previous two dances.”
Admitting that he felt really confident after their rehearsals, things then took an unexpected turn.
He continued: “I got home on Tuesday night, took my leg off and said, ‘Oh that’s quite sore.’
“Didn’t really think too much of it, cleaned it, bathed it and made sure it was all OK.”

The contestant shared that he woke up at four in the morning to see his leg had gotten warm and swollen.
Jody added: “ I got myself to the hospital and went to see the doctors there. They’ve prescribed me some antibiotics and by the time morning came around I couldn’t get my leg on.
“That was Wednesday’s training out then I tried again this morning to get my leg on, not been able to get my leg on today.”
He told Janette that although it’s healing and getting better, he’s still unable to put the prosthetic back on.
Jody continued: “The hope is that tomorrow the swelling has gone down a little bit more and we’re in a situation where I can do a little bit of practice and pick up where we left off on Tuesday.”
However, the contestant admitted he was fortunate that they were able to run through the whole routine on Tuesday before the infection happened.
Currently, Jody and Jowita are 14th on the leaderboard with a total score of 16.
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday on BBC One from 6.20pm.
