Strictly’s Zara McDermott’s future in the BBC competition looks in doubt ahead of live show
Strictly Come Dancing contestant Zara McDermott has been dealt a blow, as the bookmakers think she could be eliminated this week.
The BBC documentary maker, who first found fame on Love Island, and her professional dance partner Graziano Di Prima may find themselves the fourth couple to be evicted from the competition in 2023.
It comes after bookmarkers have revealed their latest odds of the year’s Strictly competition, just hours before the live show.
After failing to break through into the top half of the leader board and already finding herself in the dance-off once before, experts believe Zara's luck may have run out.
Bookmakers have identified Zara McDermott alongside Eddie Kadi and Adam Thomas as the three "at risk" contestants this week.
Zara, Waterloo Road actor Adam and comedian Adam are all on 2/1 with Betfred to get the ballroom boot, with their nearest rival Krishnan Guru-Murthy a long way behind on 10/1.
While William Hill has the odds at 11/10 for Zara McDermott to be the next elimination, Adam Thomas at 2/1 and Eddie Kadi 3/1.
Assessing the latest odds, Kayley Cornelius, a spokesperson from Betfred said: "After wowing the judges and bringing his brother to tears during his waltz last Saturday, fan favourite, Adam Thomas, has admitted he has been forced to take a break from rehearsals this week after suddenly falling ill, explaining why he is on 2/1 odds to leave.
"This week will be a true test of the actor’s dancing skills and he will have to put forward his best foot to keep his position in the competition.
She added: "However, after poorly performing last weekend, 2/1 odds are also on Eddie Kadi and dance partner Karen Hauer to leave after narrowly dodging elimination on Saturday night.
"Strictly judge, Shirley Ballas, was quick to brand Kadi as ‘flat-footed’ during his American Smooth performance to Tom Jones’ iconic hit ‘Sex Bomb’.
"Although, the couple may also be facing hurdles with their training as rumours surfaced this week about Karen allegedly divorcing husband Jordan Wyn-Jones.
Moving onto Zara, Kayley added: "The same odds are also on Zara McDermott to be eliminated this week despite finally managing to make her stamp on the competition last week; with many fans taking to social media to applaud her noticeable improvement.
"With the competition ramping up, all contestants need to be on top form. If Zara and Graziano Di Prima want any opportunity of winning the Glitterball, they will have to continue to go above and beyond."
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 6:40pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
