The Repair Shop expert gasps ‘Can’t watch’ as Steve restores show’s oldest item
Expert ‘can’t watch’ as Steve repairs the Terracotta statue
The Repair shop expert Kirsten Ramsay turned away and gasped “I can’t watch” as Steve Fletcher helped her to restore the show’s oldest item.
During Wednesday’s BBC instalment, Kirsten roped in the help of Steve when she was presented with a 2,000-year-old Chinese statue, which had broken into pieces.
“The moment has come to reattach the leg back onto the figure,” Kirsten said nervously.
“I am also going to use some bandage material that will help me pull a piece into place.”
The expert went on to explain the adhesive she had used was “slow activating” which gave her time to make sure the pieces fit perfectly together.

“I won’t lie it is quite tricky,” she went on to admit.
“I am very happy with the way that has gone together and when that is cured, I can make a start on filling.”
Later on, things took a turn when Steve helped Kirsten to fully restore the statue.
“Just got to put this last bit…this bit stops it from rocking forward and back,” Steve explained.

Kirsten looked worried as she put her hand to her chest and turned away from her co-star.
“I can’t watch,” she gasped before letting out a laugh.
“I reckon that is ok,” Steve reassured before adding: “Go on.”
Kirsten laughed before placing the head on the statue as she said: “I love your confidence.
“I hardly dare let go. Amazing, doesn’t he look lovely? Just seeing him upright for the first time, I am blown away.
“Thank you so much, Steve, I can’t wait to see Melanie’s face. Seeing him probably for the first time in years.”
When it came to the big reveal, guest Melanie said she was feeling “really nervous”.
However, when Kirsten unveiled the restoration, the guest was left blown away.
The Repair Shop returns on Wednesday at 8pm on BBC One.
