This Morning saved my life after I watched live breast test
This Morning: Guest explains seeing live breast test saved her
One This Morning viewer spoke to hosts Holly Willoughby and Dermot O’Leary about how a demonstration aired earlier in the year saved her life.
In May, Dr Sara Kayat carried out a live demonstration on the ITV show to show women how to check their breasts to raise awareness of the symptoms of breast cancer.
Watching the segment at home, viewer Priya Kaura decided to follow along with the demo which resulted in her cancer being caught.
Admitting she’d never checked her breasts before, she said: “I actually had the sounds turned down, I just happened to look up at that moment when Leanne was on there, thankfully.
“I was pretty surprised at seeing her, there was a demonstration happening at that moment in time and I was quite surprised that Leanne seemed quite young.

“I thought, she’s really brave to be on there, I checked my breasts along with Dr Sara and I used the same technique she was using and pretty much instantly I felt a lump.”
Confessing she initially thought the lump was nothing, she decided to leave it, although her husband was constantly asking if she’d been to see a doctor.
Priya said: “After around five days I did end up seeing the doctor, she also felt the lump immediately and was concerned enough to refer me to the hospital where I had various mammograms and tests and so on.
“Then a few weeks later on my birthday, I was told that I had cancer. Underneath that small coffee bean-sized lump, was a five centimetre tumour on my left breast.

“They also found a very aggressive two centimetre separate tumour on my right breast.”
Revealing she hadn’t checked her right breast, the tumour was so deep that there wasn’t a lump.
Giving viewers an update on her health, Priya shared she had a double mastectomy three months ago and is continuing treatment.
Her treatment will continue towards the end of the year and she’ll eventually be rebuilt by doctors at the Royal Marsden.
Holly questioned if she thinks her prognosis would’ve been different had she not seen the demonstration on the show.
She replied: “Absolutely, I’ve caught it early enough for it to be treated. I would not have caught it if I had not been watching This Morning at that moment in time.
“I’m really clear about that, had you not been doing that piece, I sort of owe you a debt of gratitude really and to Leanne as well.
“That person that was saved, was me. I’ve been really happy to meet Leanne today and to thank her.
