Three Emmerdale theories: explosive news from villager and double blackmail | The Sun

LIFE in the Dales is set for some major changes in upcoming episodes with one of its longest-standing residents ready to wave goodbye.

But while David Metcalfe actor Matthew Wolfenden bows out of Emmerdale this week, other villagers plan ahead for their own havoc.

1. Shock wedding invitation

Things are picking up a pace for Ethan Anderson (played by Emile John) following some huge family drama.

In recent months, Charles Anderson's father Victor rocked up the ITV Dales, determined to bond with his family once again.

However, this ended in his death as he suffered from a brain aneurysm.

Charles and his mother Claudette Wilson tried their best to overcome their grief together, particularly as another member of their clan left Emmerdale in a hurry.

Next week, however, Ethan gets trouble of his own as he receives a worrying invitation.

Could he turn to his family or friends for guidance?

Actor Emile John teased his character would be going rogue while attending the Inside Soap Awards on September 25, 2023.

"He has a very strong moral code", he told The Sun, "and perhaps, in the future we'll see him take on a bit more of an insidious role, see a lawyer go rogue."

Emmerdale actress reveals she’s engaged to boyfriend after one year

Ethan was left heartbroken by his former boyfriend Marcus' departure from the Dales.

As viewers will recall, Marcus cheated on Ethan before leaving the village after only a year, never to be heard from again.

One could speculate that Ethan may be pushed over the edge by Marcus reaching out to him… and even sending him an invitation to his wedding with his new beau.

Will it be enough for Ethan to become a villain?

2. Double blackmail plot

Viewers have become preoccupied about Caleb Milligan (Will Ash) last week as it was obvious he was slowly figuring out what really happened to Craig Reed.

As fans of the Yorkshire-based program will remember, Craig was hit over the head by Kim Tate's horse Ice after escaping from Cain and Sam Dingle who were ready to make him pay for raping Lydia.

Kim (Claire King) and Cain (Jeff Hordley) both agreed to keep their involvements in Craig's death a secret – but Caleb is too smart for their secret to stay hidden forever.

However, Caleb has his own secrets as he recently embarked on a steamy affair with Tracy Robinson (Amy Walsh).

This week, Tracy and Caleb play with fire as Cain almost catches them kissing in the Woolpack.

Coming up, there is still unfinished business between Caleb and Tracy and, before long, he admits his attraction to her under the guise of a business transaction.

They quickly share a passionate kiss and, the following day, Tracy’s flustered when he asks her to meet him back at his place after the pub.

Later on, Caleb drinks a glass of wine at Mill Cottage, handing a second to an unknown other person.

In later scenes, Tracy is determined to put all thoughts of Caleb behind her and convinces Nate to take an afternoon off together.

But it is Cain Dingle's birthday and the family gathers round in The Woolpack for a birthday bash.

Tracy’s flushed to have Caleb sitting so close to her, and finds an excuse to head into the toilet corridor.

Caleb follows her every move, joining her, and the passion fizzes as they kiss again.

This time, however, they're almost caught by Cain and they head back through to the Woolie Bar.

Caleb is uneasy to see Tracy go back to Nate and when he leaves, Tracy follows.

With Caleb aware that Kim and Cain are hiding something, one viewer suggested that he could try and blackmail them over Craig Reed's death.

But he may get more than he bargained for.

"I have a theory: Caleb will find out that it WAS Kim’s horse and try to blackmail her but Kim later finds out about Tracy and Caleb’s affair so it’s double blackmail to both keep quiet", the soap fan speculated.

Could they be on to something?

3. DNA twist for Moira

Soap boss Laura Shaw revealed during an Emmerdale press event that the long-running show will be revisiting Moira Dingle's backstory in a shocking storyline.

The beloved farmer played by Natalie J. Robb has been involved in plenty of dramatic storylines in the Dales but the upcoming plot will see her biggest secret revealed.

"Moira's going to make a big confession to one of our villagers. It's a secret from her past that she's going to reveal", Laura teased.

"Moira does it to try to help the person that she's talking to, but how is that person going to react when they find out Moira's deepest, darkest secret?"

This got cogs whirring as fans began to share their theories about what Moira could reveal.

According to many viewers, Moira may admit that she had a child during her early teenage years… and the baby was raised as her brother.

"I’m guessing she’s Mackenzie’s biological mother à la Kat and Zoe from EastEnders", one viewer speculated on Reddit.

Another agreed while adding a dark twist to the potential storyline: "She had Mack with their father? Incest baby could be a really big secret."

But who will she be opening up to?

Could she share her secret with Tracy Robinson, who has been suspected of being involved in a pregnancy storyline in the midst of her affair with Caleb Milligan?

Emmerdale airs weeknights from 7.30pm on ITV.
