Legendary American superstar is set to headline the Glastonbury Festival in 2023: ‘Both teams are keen to make it happen and striking a deal shouldn’t be a problem’

It’s not long until the long-awaited Glastonbury 2024 tickets go on sale on November 5. 

And according to reports a certain legendary US superstar is set to headline the festival next June in Worthy Farm in Somerset. 

According to The Sun, Madonna is in advanced talks to take to the Pyramid stage in the summer.

The singer, 65, has never performed at the iconic music festival and her team are reportedly planning a huge show which would be sure to go down in Glastonbury history. 

Madonna would be following in the footsteps of the legendary Sir Elton John who closed the festival last June with his final ever show on his Farewell tour.

A source from the publication revealed: ‘Negotiations are well underway between Glasto organiser Emily Eavis and Madonna’s manager Guy Oseary.

‘Both teams are keen to make it happen and striking a deal shouldn’t be a problem.

‘Emily was blown away watching Madonna perform in London and is desperate to get her on the Pyramid Stage next year.’

The Like A Virgin hitmaker kicked off her Celebration Tour last weekend with sold-out shows at the O2 Arena.

During the show, Madonna sent temperatures soaring as she hit the stage in satin lingerie and writhed on stage with a whole host of topless dancers.

In the audience herself, Emily shared her excitement after the show online as she wrote: ‘She’s back! Incredible.’

And fans are convinced it was a sign that Madonna is top of the organiser’s list.

According to the star’s schedule her 78-show tour will finish next April meaning she has a nice break to recuperate and rehearse ready for Glastonbury.

Last June revellers enjoyed the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Guns N’ Roses and Elton John, yet Emily faced backlash after no female headliner made the lineup. 

She explained at the time: ‘We did have a female headliner, and she unfortunately had to pull out . . . it changes all the time.

‘But next year it’s looking like we’ve got two female headliners, so fingers crossed.’

Taylor Swift was thought to have pulled out over a change in plans as he tour dates seemed to coincide perfectly with Glastonbury at the time.
