2008 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Roadster to be Auctioned by RM Sotheby's

RM Sotheby’s is set to auction a rare 2008 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Roadster, as part of its upcoming Arizona 2024 sale, taking place in Phoenix during Arizona Car Week.

Born from the formidable partnership of Mercedes-Benz, AMG and McLaren — this iconic roadster represents a unique blend of luxury and performance, hailing from a limited production of just 670 units manufactured between 2006 and 2008.

The SLR McLaren Roadster is a testament to the engineering prowess of its creators. Powered by a 5.4L, supercharged V-8 engine developed by AMG, it delivers 626 hp. This powerplant enables the Roadster to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds, with a top speed of 206 mph.

This particular SLR McLaren Roadster is a US-market model first sold through Mercedes-Benz of Miami in March 2008. Despite it’s performance capabilities, the grand tourer also boasts a significant touch of elegance, finished in the model’s signature Crystal Laurite Silver, complemented by Silver Arrow 300SL Red Leather upholstery. Additional features include Black Carbon Trim and Red Brake Calipers.

With just under 7,700 miles on the odometer, RM Sotheby’s noted that this example has “continued to benefit from a pampered life with regular maintenance and gentle use.”

The auction package includes the car’s owner’s manuals, service invoices dating back to 2014, a car cover with a bag, a convertible top bag, a Mercedes-Benz SLR trickle charger and a tool kit with an air compressor. Bidding for the vehicle is set to begin on January 25, 2024, with the estimate set at a range of $375,000 to $475,000 USD.
