Ann Demeulemeester Drops First Fragrance

Belgian fashioner Ann Demeulemeester has dropped her first fragrance, titled “A.”

The elemental scent’s moniker, which firstly derives from the legendary designer’s name, is also symbolic of “a visual and emotional language” that’s distilled into the genderless parfum. “Crafted personally by Ann Demeulemeester through a lifelong instinctive study of notes and associations, the fragrance transmits the poetic purity and structured serenity of the designer’s enduring oeuvre,” according to the brand.

Notes of bergamot and lemon reside atop a strong base of clove, cinnamon, leather and sandalwood. At the core of the scent, Demeulemeester infused floral notes of jasmine and rose. The product’s tall, angular bottle reflects the fragrance’s regality, with a glass composition that boasts a semi-matte label across one face.

After exiting her namesake brand in 2013, Demeulemeester returned to the label as an advisor in 2021, when she initially began to expand the imprint’s scope outside of just fashion and into homeware. In June, Stefano Gallici was named the brand’s creative director, following a short stint from designer Ludovic de Saint Sernin.

Ann Demeulemeester’s “A” fragrance is now available to shop on the brand’s webstore for $415 USD. Take a closer look at the product in the gallery above.
