Versace Pre-Fall 2024 Takes a Turn for Quiet Luxury

Versace, an Italian fashion house known for its loudest luxuries, is paring back for Pre-Fall 2024. In the place of flashy patterns, Donatella Versace’s latest menswear output enlists textiles and tailoring techniques inspired by a typical everyday look of hers: a high-end cashmere coat with a matching knit, layered over fine trousers. This collection, it appears, is one for the stealthy wealthy.

โ€œThis is a very personal reflection of the pieces I love the most at Versace and wear every day and the pieces I like most in the men around me,โ€ Versace toldย Vogue. With a mood board covered in comrades, the designer turned down the volume and placed the emphasis instead on sharp tailoring, roomy constructions, muted denim and expert layering.

Trench coats and blazers feature the House’s classic floral motif in an all-over grey hue, and similarly-colored jeans dress down the full assemblage. White logo T-shirts and tank tops frequently become the base layer across the range, providing formalwear with a casual finish that adheres to the codes of quiet luxury.

There’s a grey knit vest that resides above high-waisted black trousers, as well as a light-blue denim iteration that pairs well with jeans in the same tone; both find room to experiment with form-flattering fits while still remaining masculine to their core. Cream and brown coats oftentimes find themselves paired with white underlayers and blue denim pants (and the occasional statement accessory), while a selection of all black ensembles highlight Versace’s commitment to refined shapes.

As much as the collection is hushed, it wouldn’t be Donatella’s without a few noise-makers. In one corner of the line, the label’s classic gold prints appear on track jackets, button-down shirts and shorts โ€” fueling the range with a sense of royalty that is quintessentially Versace.
