Antiques Roadshow guest collapses to floor after learning Rolex watch is worth more than a house | The Sun

A SHOCKED guest on Antiques Roadshow collapsed to the ground after hearing how much his Rolex watch was worth.

The army veteran on the US version of the show was stunned when he brought the watch in for valuation.

David had originally bought the Rolex Daytona because he heard it was a good brand to use while scuba diving.

It cost him a month's salary, but after spending $345 on the timepiece he got worried about the potential of water damage and ended up locking it in a box for safety.

In the end the Rolex went unworn for four decades.

And it turns out the item was worth more than the veteran ever imagined.

The Antiques Roadshow valuer told him the 1971 watch was similar to one Paul Newman wore in the 60s racing movie Winning.

He said: "A watch like this, at auction, is worth about $400,000 (£327,949)."

After hearing the news, David collapsed to the floor in shock, leaving onlookers laughing at his reaction.

But the valuer continued: "Don’t fall, I’m not done yet. I said a watch like yours.

"Because of the condition of it – the original foil sticker on the back of it, and the fact that we have all this complete documentation here also – it may be one of the very few in the whole world that still was never worn.

"Your watch, at auction today, $500 to $700,000 (£409,936-£573,911)."

An astonished David responded: "You got to be f**king kidding me!"
