BBC Strictly pro Kai Widdrington announces big career change hours before show final
Strictly Come Dancing's Kai Widdrington has announced a huge career move just hours before the BBC dance show's grand final as the 2023 series comes to an end.
The professional dancer, 28, will return to the ballroom floor on Saturday's live final alongside his former partner Angela Rippon, but it seems Kai has other future plans away from TV once Strictly ends.
Kai and Angela dazzled on the dancefloor all the way through to Blackpool before they were eliminated after facing the dance off against Bobby Brazier and Dianne Buswell.
During Saturday's Strictly final, the couple will return to the dance floor alongside other eliminated couples as one of the finalists will lift the iconic Glitterball trophy.
Kai took to Instagram on Saturday morning, just hours before the final begins, to share his next career venture.
Sharing a photo of a headshot of himself as well as press release on his Instagram Story with his 239,000 followers, Kai announced: "Delighted to be a part of the future of British ballroom and latin dancing."
The documents explained that he has now become the British Dancesport Association's Director of Engagement and Education.
He went on to address the Strictly finalists, telling his followers: "Good morning everyone. It's been a long time since I've done one of these.
"I just want to say thank you everyone for all the support throughout the season, it's coming to an end today, it's the Strictly final and I want to wish all the luck in the world to all three finalists.
"Firstly, to the pros who have done a fantastic job with each of their partners this season and of course to Bobby, Layton and Ellie. All deserved winners in my opinion."
He added: "But whoever takes home the Glitterball is a deserved winner in my opinion.
"I think they're going to be absolutely fantastic tonight, I've heard the dances are unbelievable and definitely worth tuning in tonight. So enjoy at home and enjoy the final."
Kai's announced comes just a day after new photographs of the final three celebrities were released ahead of the upcoming Strictly final.
Ellie Leach will compete in this weekend's grand finale of the BBC dance competition with professional partner Vito Coppola against fellow stars Bobby Brazier and his dance partner Dianne Buswell and Layton Williams with Nikita Kuzmin.
The Strictly finalists beamed as they took it in turns to pose alongside the coveted Glitterball trophy – which one pair will lift on Saturday's live show.
Each couple will perform their favourite routine from the series, one picked by the judges for them to have another go at, and a new show dance.
