BBC Strictlys Giovanni Pernice postpones brand launch after partner Amanda Abbington quits show

Amanda Abbington's departure from Strictly Come Dancing came as a shock to many, including her dancing partner Giovanni Pernice.

The 49 year old actress was forced to quit the BBC show due to "personal reasons" but said she "did not come to this decision lightly", and it appears 33 year old Giovanni is now showing solidarity.

Last week the professional dancer announced his new 'dream' venture on Instagram and promised that the big reveal would take place on October 24.

But after Amanda pulled out of the competition, Giovanni has now made the decision to postpone his brand launch, according to Mail Online.

The launch was scheduled to take place today but won't go ahead out of respect to his former co-star.

Amanda, known her her acting role on Sherlock, confirmed her departure on Instagram and shared a snap of her dancing shoes, as well as a lengthy message.

She wrote: "It is with deepest regret that I had to leave Strictly. I did not come to this decision easily or lightly but for personal reasons I am unable to continue. It was an absolute joy working with my fellow contestants, they are a beautiful, hardworking and talented group of people who I love and who I will miss seeing every Friday and Saturday and competing alongside.

"I want to thank the incredible Production team and everyone on Strictly who looked after me and who are so kind and caring. Itโ€™s a wonderful bunch of people and Iโ€™ll miss all of them.

"Iโ€™m so sad that I am unable to go any further. Thank you to everyone who voted and who sent wonderful messages and inspiring support. You are all amazing. Truly. Thank you. xxx"

During the competition so far, Amanda and Giovanni have impressed the judges and audience with their routines, so news of Amanda's apparent departure will no doubt come as a blow to fans.

In the very first week of the competition, the couple danced their way to the upper end of the leaderboard, with a score of 29 points, before continuing to excel week after week, with scores of 32, 30 and 31.

And, after Amanda's exit, Giovanni broke his silence, as he shared a tribute to the actor which included a snap of them in pyjamas backstage.

He penned: "Amanda .. I am so sad we canโ€™t continue but I am proud of what we achieved and I am sending you so much love @amanda_abbington74 @bbcstrictly."
