Casualty confirms fan-favourite will remain on BBC show after exit rumours
Casualty trailer hints at Zoe Hanna’s return
Casualty has confirmed that one of its beloved stars is staying with the long-running Saturday night BBC medical drama after it was wrongly claimed that they were leaving.
Taking to X formerly known as Twitter the show bosses wrote: “Don’t believe the rumours! Dr Stevie Nash isn’t going anywhere We love you @elinor_lawless.” They accompanied the sweet sentiment with a picture of Elinor Lawless laughing beside a camera on set.
The post came after it was erroneously reported that she was set to depart the show when it returns in the coming weeks.
Elinor joined the show as Stevie in August 2021 and quickly became a fan-favourite, despite the fact that her sinister first storyline involved her seeking revenge on Dr Ethan Hardy (played by George Rainsford) for what she believed was his part in her sister’s death.
Fans were relieved to hear that she’s hanging around and were quick to share their love for the character.

However, a few fans were confused by the post. @KirstyCakes3006 said: “I clearly missed something…what rumours?? But WOOP WOOP glad they’re not true.”
Elsewhere @KeithWakeham enquired: “What Rumours ?? Hope she not leaving. Casualty won’t be the same if ELINOR OR KIRSTY left. Hope they just Rumours Rumours lol.” (sic)
While Elinor won’t be departing the show any time soon fans will be saying goodbye to two characters in the coming months. Strictly Come Dancing star Nigel Harman is set to depart his role as Dr Max Cristie having only joined the show in February this year.
However, it is the departure of Charlie Fairhead, played by Derek Thompson, that is sure to cause the most upset amongst fans. The actor has been in the show since the very first episode on September 6, 1986, and indeed, was the first character seen on screen so his farewell truly marks the end of an era.
Previous episodes of Casualty are available on the BBC iPlayer.
