CBeebies star Rebecca Keatley gives birth to baby girl 3 weeks early and reveals name

CBeebies star Rebecca Keatley has shared the happy news that she has given birth to her first child with partner, Jim Rastall.

The star revealed that she gave birth to a baby girl "three weeks earlier than expected" on Friday, 10 November.

The 37 year old announced the happy news on Instagram as she shared a carousel of adorable snaps of the newborn. She also revealed that she and her husband have named their sweet "little munchkin" Mabel.

Rebecca wrote a lengthy caption, detailing her birth journey, and said that her little bundle of joy was "doing really well at home". She said: "On Friday 10th November 2023 a little munchkin called Mabel was born. Just over 3 weeks earlier than expected. Weighing in at a whooping 4lbs 4 ounces.

"She had to be delivered early, via C-Section due to fetal growth restriction. Although I didn't get my wish for a water birth, the hypnobirthing did come in handy before and during the operation."

Rebecca continued: "After a week of highs and lows, trying to get her birth weight up, stabilise low blood sugar levels, getting her tongue tie and jaundice sorted. She is now on an upwards climb and doing really well at home. As for the parents, well, we're delirious with lack of sleep but most importantly love. She's like an out of this world being. And we're loving the adventure already.

The star then gave a shout out to her "other half" who had been an "incredible support" and is already the "most wonderful dad".

She finished off and said: "Hats off to the nhs and the fantastic team who helped bring baby Mabel safely into the world."

Gemma Atkinson was quick to send her congratulations as she wrote: "How beautiful. congratulations!"

Fans also rushed to congratulate the new parents as one said: "Congratulations!!!!! Such wonderful news, sending tons of love", while another added: "Congratulations, she is absolutely beautiful, you will make an AMAZING mum!!".

Rebecca has appeared on CBeebies since 2016. Prior to this she played the character of the Red Wiggle on the UK version of the Australian children's show The Wiggles between 2008 and 2011.

Earlier this month, the star opened up on how the prospect of becoming a parent had given her a different view on the work that she produces, and how the show characters "become part of your family life".

She explained: "Talking to the other cast members who've already got children, you know how important it is.

"[They have talked] about how they really treasure the shows and the characters, and how they become part of your family life, so I will have that to look forward to."
