In the powerful episode, Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) and Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) were in grave danger as Stephen trapped them in The Rovers before knocking Sarah unconscious.

Jenny then finally learned the truth about everything as Stephen confessed all the murders to her.

Her screams alerted a group outside, who tried to help.

The drama concluded with Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) running Stephen over, and he was confirmed to be dead.

However, one more bombshell was dropped as Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine), who’d been attacked by Stephen earlier in the week and his lifeless body dumped in the boot of his taxi, opened his eyes and tried to escape the vehicle.

Coronation Street continues on Monday at 8pm on ITV.
