Corries Stephen Reid star Todd Boyce confirms soap exit and reveals souvenir he took from set

Todd Boyce has confirmed he will be leaving Coronation Street, with his character Stephen Reid's exit storyline playing out over the coming weeks on the ITV soap.

Viewers have watched in frustration and horror as Stephen has continued to get away with three murders – Rufus Donahue, Teddy and Leo Thompkins – over recent months along with other crimes. However, residents of Weatherfield have started to piece things together with all fingers pointing towards Stephen, and it looks like it's only a matter of time before his crimes are unearthed.

Actor Todd, 62, who reprised his role on the soap last year, has now opened up about filming his final scenes on Corrie and the souvenir he's taken – and whether Stephen could murder once more.

Speaking to OK! and other press about his time on the soap coming to an end, Todd said: "I started in my thirties and I'm now in my early sixties, and I've had three goes. The final was just a gift from heaven and God. I mean, truly, I couldn't have wished for anything more exciting than to be given Stephen and to be given such good writing."

He also revealed his penultimate scene was filmed alongside on-screen mum Sue Nicholls, who plays Audrey Roberts, which he branded "fantastic".

Todd also made sure to take home a souvenir from the Coronation Street set and he managed to keep Stephen's bank card to remind him of his time on the iconic ITV soap.

The actor went on to tease his exit storyline, saying viewers will most likely be pleased with how it all plays out after months of "frustration" watching Stephen remain unpunished.

Despite keeping details of his exit under wraps, Todd did hint that another murder could be on the cards before Stephen leaves for good, as he described his character as a "time bomb" that is "exploding".

When asked if Stephen could kill again, he replied: “I think should anything get in his way, he could. There’s no question that he’s ready to. He’s got all the finesse of a bulldozer at this point. He just needs to get out, it’s quite the Incredible Hulk moment, you don’t want to make him angry.”

There's two characters that could be in the firing line, one of which is Peter Barlow. Todd added: “I think Tim (Metcalfe) and I also think Peter (Barlow) has put himself in a very difficult and dangerous position. Tim definitely is in my sights, I think I’m just a loose cannon."

He went on: “I’m furious with my situation so I would kill Tim just out of anger not just out of any other reason. He’s a time bomb and he’s exploding.”
