Danielle Harold discusses Christmas EastEnders return following death

Danielle Harold discusses romance rumours with Pete Wicks

EastEnders star Danielle Harold left the BBC soap earlier this year after her character Lola Pearce died of a brain tumour in tragic scenes. However, the actress confirmed she would be making a surprise appearance in the soap’s Christmas storyline.

Fans of the show were devastated when Lola died in May following a harrowing battle with cancer. Her family and friends are gearing up for their first Christmas without her, but it seems they will end up shocked as Danielle explained her character would be “back on screens” at Christmas time.

Appearing on Tuesday’s Loose Women, the 31-year-old, who has just appeared on the latest I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, gave little away about her EastEnders return.

“So you guys really lived it up afterwards, that’s the fun bit, isn’t it?” host Charlene White asked, referring to Danielle and her I’m A Celebrity co-stars.

She also couldn’t help but address speculation over Danielle’s love life, adding: “And there are all these little rumours about you and Pete Wicks…”

Turning to co-star Coleen Nolan, Charlene added: “You’ve been texting him about it, haven’t you, Col?”

“I have been, yes, yes – and he’s not replied to me yet,” she admitted.

Laughing, Danielle explained: “No, we’ve been laughing so much, bless him.

“Because you come out and all your friends and family are there but no, me and Pete are just good friends, have been for years.”

She continued: “But we had a giggle about it, we had such a laugh about it.”

“I did mention earlier that actually you’re going to be back in EastEnders despite the fact that Lola was killed off…” Charlene remarked.

“How on earth? Is it going to be one of those ‘it’s all a dream’ type storylines?”

“It feels a bit like a dream to me today!” Danielle joked, continuing: “It’s only when your team said, ‘Oh, they’ve released that you’re in EastEnders at Christmas.’

“I was like, ‘Oh yeah!’ I’ve been keeping all these secrets.

“I can’t wait to see her back on screen, especially around Christmas, so I’m very excited!”

“Are you allowed to say how it happened?” Charlene proved hopefully.

However, the actress remained tight-lipped, explaining: “No I don’t think I can say how – sorry!”

Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV.
