Dancing on Ice have signed up two soap legends for the upcoming series as all 12 contestants are revealed.

Coronation Street icon Ryan Thomas and Emmerdale actress Roxy Shahidi have been confirmed for the 2024 season of the gruelling ITV ice-skating show.

Revealing the news exclusively on Steph’s Packed Lunch on Friday (October 6), Roxy said: "I’m an actor hiding behind a character that's where I'm most comfortable. Being yourself out there on the ice with no character to hide behind is really scary for me. I’d say that’s the scariest element for me."

Roxy and Ryan are the eleventh and twelfth celebrity to be announced, joining the previously announced World Champion Boxer Ricky Hatton MBE, actress Claire Sweeney, actress and singer Hannah Spearritt, West End star Amber Davies and Olympic Champion and presenter Greg Rutherford MBE, TV personality Miles Nazaire, Gogglebox star Stephen Lustig-Webb,comedian and writer Lou Sanders, actor Ricky Norwood, Broadcaster and DJ Adele Roberts and actor Ryan Thomas.

Ryan played hunky Weatherfield builder Jason Grimshaw from 2000 until 2016 and took centre stage in several gripping storylines. Roxy currently plays Leyla Harding in rival soap Emmerdale. She has portrayed the character on and off since 2008.

They will both take to the ice for the first time when the show returns in the new year. Ryan, speaking about his brother Adam who is currently appearing on BBC's strictly-come-dancing>Strictly Come Dancing, said on Steph's Packed Lunch: "I do need to beat him."

The stars will start training almost immediately ahead of the show, which is set to return to screens in January. Back for a sparkling new series, the greatest show on ice promises more glitz, glamour and show stopping performances as the celebrities brave it all to learn this dangerous discipline. But who has what it takes to master the skill and steps and lift the trophy at the end of the series?

The announcement comes a day after Radio DJ and I'm A Celebrity star Adele Roberts was confirmed for the show. Revealing the news on ITV's Lorraine, Adele said: "It’s bricking it on ice for me. I think the hardest part is putting myself out there as I usually hide away. I did radio as it’s not visual. That’s going to be a big challenge. After cancer I have my life back, I actually can’t wait for the glam."

In a comment on the show's official Instagram page, Roberts said she was "overjoyed to be part of this year's series".
