Emmerdale fans beg for soap character to be axed after love confession
As Emmerdale staples Mackenzie Boyd, Charity Dingle and Chloe Harris continue to navigate the aftermath of super soap week’s shocking car accident, fans at home were left flabbergasted this week as Mack aired his worries about Chloe being awoken from her coma.
While on the surface, it could have been an endearing gesture had he actually been concerned for Chloe’s wellbeing, Mack’s real fear stemmed from whether or not Chloe remembered he had opted to save Charity rather than the mother of his child, when the car they were travelling in was dangling perilously on a cliff edge.
To make matters worse, just before Mack visited Chloe in hospital he had approached Charity and declared his love for her, before tentatively asking if she felt the same.
However, in a surprising twist, Charity confessed she couldn’t allow herself to love him any longer, as she didn’t want want to be his backup plan, in case Chloe never woke up.
The scenes did not go down well with viewers at home, with several taking to social media to slam his behaviour.
One horrified fan wrote: “Could Mack sink any lower?”
Before a second fan echoed the sentiment as they wrote: “Can we seriously just f**k off with Mack and Charity and this whole story now?”
Meanwhile a third fan then added: “Mack really should’ve been the one who died… there’s still time.”
Before a fourth fan suggested that Chloe should take revenge on her cheating lover, by adding: “Can Chloe’s next revenge story actually work and end with Mack dead please?”
As regular viewers will know, Mack, Charity and Chloe have been embroiled in a long running love triangle for several months now, with Mack having previously fathered a child with Chloe, while in a relationship with Charity.
Keeping the pregnancy a secret from Charity, even on their wedding day, the truth was later rumbled when Chloe went into labour and delivered a baby boy, named Reuben – only for the youngster to be struck down with meningitis within a few days of his birth.
Rallying around Chloe during the health scare, Charity finally learned the truth about the baby’s parentage and immediately broke up with Mack, who later went on to find love with Chloe full time.
However, rather than living happily ever after, Mack briefly cheated on Chloe on the eve of baby Reuben’s christening, once again having fallen into bed with his estranged wife Charity in a final hurrah for their relationship.
Initially, the couple had opted not to tell Chloe the truth about their tryst, but following her discovery of their infidelity last week, the jilted lover proceeded to call their bluff and in an impromptu drive to Hotten, began to behave erratically and soon placed the trio’s lives in danger with her dangerous driving.
Losing control of the vehicle in a fit of rage, Chloe soon found herself dangling off the edge of a quarry, with Mack and Charity in the car – but in now infamous scenes, Mackenzie reached out to help Charity to safety, rather than Chloe, something which saw her plummet several feet into the quarry below.
Following the accident, Chloe was rushed to hospital where she underwent urgent brain surgery, however when she awoke this week, she claimed to not remember the accident at all – but could thus turn of events be too good to be true?
