GMB’s Kate Garraway begs co-star to ‘get away from the edge’ during storm report beside sea

Good Morning Britain'sKate Garraway expressed her concerns for a reporter and begged them to 'get away from the edge!' as she struggled beside the rough sea in a 'concerning' storm report on Friday.

The ITV show was sharing the latest news regarding Storm Babet, which has battered Scotland and parts of England in the past 24 hours.

Correspondent Nitya Rajan was reporting from Whitley Bay harbour in North Tyneside as the high winds and rain lashed down on her while she struggled to stay standing as she stood right beside the crashing waves.

The horrendous weather blurred the camera while Nitya fought to keep her balance – but continued her report. However, Kate's motherly instincts kicked in as she asked her to move away.

At one point, Kate, 56, felt the need to step in and warn the presenter away from the violent waves striking a harbour as she delivered her live broadcast.

Nitya was hit with a huge splash from the rough seas and visibly struggled with the heavy winds, prompting her to shout: "Oh gosh, you can see the sheer force."

Concerned Kate, who is reportedly being considered alongside co-host Ben Shephard as the new Holly and Phil on This Morning, then issued her a stark warning.

With worry evident in her voice, she said: "Listen, I'm going to give you a warning, Nitya – I want you to come away from that edge.

"Your reporting is brilliant and vital but we're concerned about you, we don't want you to get swept up or anything – move slightly away!"

A red 'danger to life' warning was issued across parts of Angus and Perthshire in Scotland, and still remains in place.

Meanwhile amber 'severe' warnings are in place down the spine of England and Scotland's east coast.

While yellow warnings have been issued in the south-east, north Wales, the Midlands and the north, as well as the the entirety of Northern Ireland.

Elsewhere on Friday's Good Morning Britain, Charlotte Hawkins wowed viewers as she showed off her latest hair transformation.

The TV presenter, 48, appeared on the morning show alongside Kate and Ben, and Kate was quick to point out Charlotte's new look.

Kate told her co-host that compliments about her new hair had been flooding in from TV viewers, prompting Charlotte to say she'd gone for "something different" for Friday's show.

"And you're getting lots of compliments on the new barnet. Loving it. Very good!" Kate told Charlotte, who then proceeded to thank her.
