Susanna Reid took a cheeky swipe at Ben Shephard during the latest episode of Good Morning Britian.

The dynamic duo were back on presenting duty on Thursday (December 7) to wake up the nation with the latest news headlines. Before the programme came to an end, they chatted to Lorraine Kelly to find out what was coming up on her talk show.

As Lorraine informed viewers what they can expect, she went on to share festive joke. The Scottish presenter asked: "Why does Santa have three gardens?", As Susanna began thinking about her answer, Ben quickly replied: "Because he's needs to go to ho(e) ho(e) ho(e)."

Confirming he got the punchline right, Lorraine said: "I'll get my coat" as Susanna playfully fumed: "It's not a quiz. we're not on Tipping Point. It's a joke." Defending his actions, Ben said: "I was thinking out loud." Lorraine went on to share her joke again and managed to share the punchline herself.

As their chat came to an end, Ben cheekily said: "You've got to tell me it's not a quiz. I'm proud of myself for working that out so quickly by the way." It comes after Susanna addressed her co-host Richard Madeley's manner with calls for the TV legend to be sacked from Good Morning Britain after he asked a controversial question.

Issuing a strong defence of her part time co-host she told The Sun that Richard is a "bit bolder with his wording" – but he is a "legend in broadcasting". She added: "He's the founder of This Morning, he's been doing it longer than any of us and he's got a particular way with politicians."

Richard found himself under fire after asking a controversial question on the Israel-Hamas conflict. In October, Madeley was forced to apologise after asking British-Palestinian MP Layla Moran if there was 'any word on the street' ahead of Hamas's terror attack on Israel. But stepping in to explain, Susanna added: "Layla Moran dealt with that with enormous grace and she wasn't offended. In fact, when she was asked about it subsequently, she said it was a total distraction from the real issue."

After the interview with Ms Moran, GMB watchers demanded for the presenter to be removed from air as they lodged complaints to media watchdog Ofcom. But Susanna rebuffed the claims adding that Madeley brings a lot to GMB and he has a really 'loyal audience.'

Madeley later apologised for the remarks made to the Liberal Democrat MP for Oxford West and Abingdon, and with a statement from a Good Morning Britain spokesperson saying he is "sorry that he has upset viewers'."

The breakfast show spokesperson added that Richard's intention that morning was to "understand the mood and atmosphere" of the situation before the heinous deadly attacks launched by Hamas on October 7 and "he did not mean to imply that she or her family might have had any prior knowledge of the attacks".

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 6am
