I was on Celebrity Big Brother when housemate made sick Nazi joke – here's what happens when someone’s thrown out | The Sun

CELEBRITY Big Brother was hit with controversy back in 2016 when Christopher Biggins was evicted for making a sick Nazi joke.

The panto legend said it was the worst moment of his career when he was thrown out on day nine of the 18th series.

Now his former co-star, TV and radio presenter James Whale, has described how the housemates were left in the dark about the actor's fate until leaving the show.

Biggins told Jewish X Factor star Katie Waissel in 2016: "You better be careful or they’ll be putting you in a shower and taking you to a room."

He later admitted to making a joke about Nazis, who gassed Jews in shower blocks, saying: “I suppose I was, yes. But it didn’t occur to me that’s what I was referring to.”

The 74-year-old's offensive remarks were never shown on the Channel 5 show, but he was swiftly removed, with his rumoured £100,000 fee slashed.

Housemates are filmed being told their co-star has left the show to update audiences.

However, James reveals stars are not given any clue as to the reason behind the sudden exit.

"We had no idea what had happened until we left the show," he explained.

"So for some of us, that was five weeks later."

It went down as one of the most controversial moments in Big Brother history.

Biggins had also been accused of making derogatory remarks about bisexual people.

Celebrity Big Brother said at the time: “Since entering Big Brother, he has made a number of comments capable of causing great offence to housemates and the viewing public.

“Big Brother does not tolerate offensive language capable of causing widespread offence.”
