‘I was on Love Island and never had an orgasm but I’ve now filmed my experience’

Love Island star Yewande Biala has never experienced an orgasm and wants to find out why.

The biochemist and author has teamed up with Channel 4 to use her personal experience and explore the world of female self-pleasure.

Brought up in a strict religious family, she struggled with a lot of anxiety and shame about sex.

Masturbation was preached to be ‘"the dirtiest sin" and she didn’t even find out that women could have orgasms until she was 19 or 20.

Opening up about filming the hour-long documentary, which airs on Thursday (August 31), Yewande told Daily Star: "It started three years ago.

"I went on a podcast and we were talking about sex, a very casual conversation and one of the girls asked if I'd ever faked an orgasm.

"I said 'no' and then they said 'but you've had an orgasm haven't you?' and I said 'no I haven't'.

"I didn't think it was a big deal but everyone else did and was so surprised and I think it made a few headlines, and I was approached a few years ago to potentially make a documentary but I shut it down straight away.

"But they came back last year, I was a little bit older and I was ready to actually maybe start my own journey and do a little bit of an investigation."

Yewande meets other women, scientists and therapists to hear their stories and opinions in the special programme.

Trying out various techniques, experimenting with sex toys and visiting a sex club all form part of her research as she attempts to learn everything there is to know about the complexity of the female orgasm in a bid to experience one herself for the first time.

She said: "I learned so much and hopefully I can educate someone or maybe there's someone that can relate to me or grew up in a religious household or a household that never talks about sex and had a similar journey to me.

"I remember one of the things I said to producers was 'don't tell me what we're doing' because I won't get a wink of sleep and be thinking about it every single day.

"They would literally tell me the day before 'oh you're going to a sex party' and I think it was for the best."

We loved how this midi dress looked on Holly during her appearance on This Morning. It features an elegant floral print, round neck and ruched sleeves, making it the ultimate day-to-night number.

Fans will watch Yewande speak to her catholic mum about self-pleasure for the first time, scenes which the TV star has described as "uncomfortable".

The reality star explained: "I never spoke to my mum about sex but to be in my mid-20's and being like 'what do you think about masturbation?' was mortifying and I felt so uncomfortable.

"If it helps anyone or makes people think anything that would be brilliant."
